2 former gravel pits have been turned into swimming holes and fishing spots! They are next to the Le Sueur and Blue Earth rivers, and flooding has brought in many types of fish.
One has no name and is just "The City of Mankato Open Space Area", next to Mount Kato. Lots of Carp and Sunnies. Kayaking and Canoeing, but not great for swimming.
Across highway 90, down county road 1 is the new Red Jacket Valley park. It's huge and Sunnies are eager to bite anything, so it's great for kids! Kayaking, Canoeing, and swimming are allowed here, too.
